Slider Suddenly Stopped Working
-
Everybody,
Good to know that this CDN issue also “hung” my site (using Graphene 1.3.1) while it kept trying to load the jquerytool and something at …cdn.maxcdn.com. Even with no slider active, the site still kept trying to load the jquery.
So good to know for everybody who experience slow/no loading of your Graphene 1.3.1 site and the message “trying to load …cdn.maxcdn.com” that the fix Syahir provides on page 3 of this topic @Wailuku also fixes this problem. It took me a while to find out (including removing some plugins, trying different pc’s and restoring my website) before I realised this was Theme related (although the problem is really CDN related), so I hope this reply will help a few.
Thanks Syahir for your great Theme and quick responses!
Ugh!! Been trying since yesterday to fix my slider. Kronberg sent me a php file but no instruction on what to actually do with it. I downloaded the 1.2.5.min.js and added to my js folder in my themes but don’t know what to do with the php file. I am starting to get bad vibe comments on my site….PLEASE HELP…
site is http://www.lifeatbest.com
Just do what Syahir told.
A server is just like your own computer.
Syahir told what to to do with files: One new file, and another file with new contents.
It may seems a bit complicated, but pls use a few minutes to look at the instructions.
I sent the files to two user, and they should be able to make a simpel upload; I think that I made Syahirs explanation very simpel.
Otherwise, pls read again, slowly. It is not that complicated.
Syahir told:
First, add the jquery-tools-1.2.5.min.js file to the theme’s /js/ folder. You can get it from here:
http://code.google.com/p/graphene/source/browse/branches/1.6/js/
Second, replace the content of the theme’s /includes/theme-script.php with the updated one here:
http://graphene.googlecode.com/svn/branches/1.6/includes/theme-scripts.php
Then I told:
Just use a FTP program (as when you oploaded WP and the theme).
Find the folders /js/ and /includes/
starting by cliking up from root to /wp-content/themes/graphene/
Make a jquery-tools-1.2.5.min.js with notepad (make sure it ends with .js, or rename it from .txt to .js), copy-paste from the link, and upload.
Download theme-scripts.php, modify with notepad by copy-pasting and replacing all from the link, and upload. (Do a backup/copy of theme-scripts.php to theme-scripts_backup.php before you modify).
Pls read it slowly. It is not complicated. And it is working at http://www.kronberg.dk/rejser
Regards, Robert
Yes thanks Robert. I created the includes folder and uploaded the file now it is working. I had modified my scroller speed yesterday when messing with settings b4 seeing the blog so now will go back and fix my settings. THANK YOU!!!!
I have an old version of Graphene, obviously, and I just uploaded the js script and the slider works now. However, now I can’t seem to upload any images to the library. They arrive in the library as 0x0 pixels. Even images I have previously uploaded with no problem. Is it possible this new .js file has caused a problem with it?
I’m a novice wordpress person, I do the work myself. Can usually figure things out, but this one is eluding me. Anyone have any ideas?
(And please don’t ask me to download the latest version of graphene.)
BTW, my graphene version is 1.3.1

jquery-tools-1.2.5.min.jsfile to something likejquery-tools-1.2.5.min.bak.jsso that it won’t be loaded. Then try upload any image into the library. This will help to determine if the library is the issue.I did as you suggested and renamed the file on the server, but I can’t get the slider to break. I did several things, logged out of the server, cleared cache, forced refresh, restarted the browser. But the slider still works which tells me probably the original .js file is still influencing the pages being served.
Any ideas?
**Update – now I’m even more confused. I realized I have more than one site using Graphene. I applied the slider fix (same file just cut and paste, that I applied at the site that is now broken on image upload. The image uploader did not malfunction at the second site. I am on the same server, with the same plug-ins on both sites… Odd that one would have a problem and the other not. Any ideas?
***update – Still can’t get the renamed file to stop working. The sliders work regardless of what I do to that file. Also, the image uploader on the one site is still broken. *confused*
Very odd. I have deleted the .js file completely. it is no longer resident at the site. And the slider still works. I opened it for the first time in another browser. Slider works.
Library still broken. Just on the one site. I have done nothing else to this site but apply that file as fix since the last time I used the library successfully. I am completely stumped on all fronts.
But the other site, same theme, same plugins, same server, everything works, including library.
