Just a note:
The link to your page in the “About Me” section directs to
http://www.rpi.edu/%7Edoriad/www.rpi.edu. I think you want this to be justhttp://www.rpi.edu/%7Edoriad/.Ken

I’m guessing you have activated:
Graphene Theme Options >> General >> Widget Area Options >> “Enable alternate front page sidebar widget area”
This means that regular widgets won’t show up on the front page. Untick this box and things should be good.

What a cool feature! Wish I’d thought of it, but I’m glad somebody did. Thanks!

Yeah, I really love PowerPress. Jetpack also makes this available, but I love the options that PowerPress has.
The joy of what we do as content publishers is that we, at least a fair number of folks all over this creation, can provide forums for ideas and thought that are not always “eye-to-eye”. We live in a world that is becoming less and less tolerant so let’s treasure the open door we have now before the rug is pulled out from underneath us.
Amen, brother! Tolerance leads to listening, which leads to understanding, which leads to peace (both inner and outer). I hope blogging can be a part of that, but a lot of us prefer to preach to the choir.
You know, I feel a blog post coming on. Time to write!

This is actually a theme feature. Go to:
Graphene Options >> Display >> Header Display Options
and tick the box marked “Link header image to front page”
Cheers, and welcome aboard!

Weird…
Did you try undoing this:
I have entered a basic css to try and align to the left but the header will not adjust
?
Or was that before you downloaded some plugins? And are you sure you didn’t activate any of those plugins? Just adding a plugin shouldn’t change anything, but if one is activated…well, you know what can happen.
But again, thinking about it, I’m not sure what you mean by this
again my 1st header is floating to the center.
What is “1st header”? If you mean the H1 that is the site title in the header, it is left-aligned in my browser (Firefox 6.0). If that’s not what you mean, what do you mean?
Scratchin’ my head,

I think a sizeable number of people would rather just leave a comment with their facebook account than enter their details all over again just to leave a comment.
I think you’re right on this. Like it or not, Facebook is with us to stay, at least for the next few years. (Or at least until Facebook gets “Myspaced”!)

Yes, I agree. Addthis is great. You can select your form of sharing and copy and paste from their website into your blog. I use it myself, but it’s so simple, I pretty much forgot about it. If you register on their site, you also get stats, which are important to a lot of people.
Thanks for the reminder! (Love your site, BTW!)

add extensions every other day
I suggested one at a time, but I think this is a good time frame. If you have a lot of readers, you can even go longer between “upgrades” (i.e., adding new plugins) and give them a chance to experience it, and ask for their feedback. This is far past the getting off the ground point, but just because you’ve been up and running for a while doesn’t mean you shouldn’t still be careful.
I have thought about writing some tutorials for WP, Graphene, HTML, and CSS, but GIYF.
(quoting myself here) Actually, I would like to write some expanded versions of some of my posts in this forum, such as this one, but generalized for WordPress or even just creating your own site. Still thinking about how this might look.
