Graphene 1.6 does not include this change. Graphene 1.6.1 will. But if you can’t wait, replace the content of the theme’s includes/theme-comments.php file with the updated one here:

do you mean you edited the theme’s files directly? If so, then yes, those changes will be overridden when you update the theme. You should make the changes using a child theme instead.

Use manual excerpt for that post. In the Edit Post screen, click on the “Screen options” pull-down tab near the top right corner of the page. Then tick the checkbox for “Excerpt”. You can then enter the excerpt for the post manually.

Looks like you have copied the entire content of the theme’s style.css file into your child theme’s style.css file, and it’s causing the issue you’re seeing. You should only insert into your child theme’s style.css file the CSS codes that you’d like to change.

“Manual excerpts” refer to the excerpts that you enter manually (see this post for more details), not the More tag that you entered in the editor.
