In reply to: Removing gray borders from table cells on affiliate site
July 10, 2012 at 5:16 am #30329Thanks, Syahir, I did that but it didn’t affect the GoldenCan’s PHP page.
However, it DID remove the grey borders from my Datafeedr affiliate pages, which is good!
I think I’ll try putting the PHP back into the site using an inline frame. That’s how I did it a few months ago & I don’t remember seeing grey borders then.
Looking forward to Graphene’s new ability to add colours to the menus! (WordPress’s biggest fault is twenty years after the Internet comes of age commercially, it doesnt do coloured menus natively.)
Keep up the good work on Graphene, mate.
PS How’s the studying coming along… nearly there?
Thanks, Josh & Kenneth, for NOT reminding me I missed Josh’s original instructions for “which file”. Must have been a bit brain-drained today from too much text input!
Okay, I’ve done the changes, cleared the cache, had a look & decided to keep the image border only, & the page looks great now. Just what the doctor ordered. Much appreciated for your assistance, folks.
Josh, regarding big table, lots of products:
Well, our Internet experience tells us “speed to market” is the single most important factor for both businesses & customers. When people are looking to buy, they/we all want multiple choices & minimal time wasted finding those choices & easy ways to buy & receive delivery of our chosen merchandise. Since this webpage loads from the top down, visitors can start looking right away, scrolling down to see more — until that magical “buying hand” clicks the mouse button on an image or link to get the goods.
Right now my biggest problem is: waiting for the AffSolutions tech person to get back to me to tell me/fix why, when we click on a link, we get an “Invalid Publisher Code, Offer, or Publisher – Advertiser Partnership Status” error message — instead of going to the merchant product page to see more/buy.
If I showed you the sites we’ve made odd sales on so far (without really trying or even finishing them), you’d really be surprised, haha! Anyway, I hope to get this one fully operational this week & use it as a split-test against 2 more conventional ECommerce websites on Graphene.
Shall give you a heads-up to have another look then. Again, keep up the good work, & you too, Syahir, if you read this.
Ta, Josh, a couple of questions connected with that:
There are 2 child theme files that Syahir created when he did a child theme for us (1000px wide version is all); style.css & functions.php. Which one do I insert this code into?
Please elaborate on “that monster code” — as I thought (non-tech POV) it looked pretty mean & clean from the Affiliate Network process that generated the javascript?
PS You’ve been a busy bloke since you came onto the forum a couple of weeks ago. Good show, mate.
Hey, folks, informative reading for a non-coder like me. Still, I think I’ll leave this stuff to you … wherever possible 😉
I prefer to do sales & SEO & customer-orientated things; all my fortes.
Now why didn’t I think it was a WordPress adjustment? Duh!
Done now & perfecto. Many thanks, mate.
PS Jon, really love your use of Graphene theme for your volunteer rescue website http://wmrt.jonlynch.co.uk/. Can I ask: How did you do the fancy bits in the menus, eg. Incidents etc, & Sunrise/Sunset? You can email me at brent @ buderimvillage.com.au, ta.

Ken, You’re right. It works a treat. Easy-peasy, from your directions, for a non-code-junkie person like me to follow. Ta.
And I like YOUR version of same! Great website blog too.

September 9, 2011 at 3:26 am #16988Yes, Ken, Syahir customised Graphene for a couple of our websites using child themes, so I thought I’d better use a child theme to do it. 😉
And I’ll follow your directions above to make the changes. Many thanks for your prompt, clear reply. Have a good one, mate!
Oh Great Key Master, so wise & wonderful, that’s perfect.
Of course, firstly your humble student had to remember where the Custom CSS field was! In the Graphene Theme Display Options tab, down the bottom of the screen. Pasted that code in, saved the option, viewed the page, voila.
The AddThis.com plugin seems to cause a few little twitches with WP posts & pages but otherwise it has all the Sharing options I really want. Oh, well, nothing’s perfect.
Thank you again, Syahir.
Okay, Syahir, I think I understand now. Shall go & practise a bit more with it. Thanks.
An associated query: On the homepage of http://androids.net.au in the posts under the slider, is there any easy way of moving the text up & beside the image, just under the Google +1 & Share buttons? I’m using the official Add This plugin here, by the way.
What I want is: basic left wrap text around an image.
Otherwise there’s a lot of wasted space up there. I doubt this is a Graphene theme issue but I’m at a loss to find any setting in the WordPress post editor to adjust it.
Tried Style> Float Left, but that seems to be ON as soon as an image is inserted & reselecting it makes no difference.
