I only used a short code once as an experiment to find out what it is and how it would work for embedding a video player in a text post. As soon as I saw that it worked, I deleted the post.
I’m guessing that for a non techie guy like me, deleting and reinstalling the theme will probably be the easiest – assuming that deleting it actually removes whatever file or database entry got the second copy of the text inserted into it.
Nevertheless, my current PowerPress settings are…. Well, come to think of it, there are a lot of settings in PowerPress, so I decided it would be easier to save the PowerPress settings page as an HTML file, then upload it to my WordPress media folder at this address (it opens in by browsers and all 7 of the settings tabs work):
For an audio player, I’m using the HTML5 option with a custom graphic for the play button and a fall back to the Flow Player for flash. I also have the PowerPress MP3 Tagging option turned on to automatically tag uploaded files.
I also set up a custom Podcast Channel in PowerPress. I did it just as a test to see what it is and how it works. I did a test post using it, but now I want to delete that channel, but PowerPress won’t let me – it says there is a post associated with it (which I deleted) so I can’t delete the channel. Nevertheless, I set up that channel several days before I remember the duplicate download link showing up, so I doubt there’s a connection there.
It is not checked and I’m quite confident I never checked it as checking stuff that I don’t understand tends to scare me. As for reloading the site, that’s another thing I don’t understand and would have to read some instructions about before attempting it.
In the WordPress dashboard, I went to Appearance / Graphene Options / Display / Custom CSS then clicked the “Save All Options” button, then the blue “Save Options” button. Here’s a screen capture of what it looks like. I doubt that my using a temporary URL could have anything to do with it. It will probably a couple weeks yet before I switch the domain to point to this server, but we could see if anything changes then.
Sorry to have to say it, but I’ve copied and pasted into the Custom CSS area and I’m still getting exactly the same results, including the odd behavior of the post title turning bold for just a second while the page is reloading, then going back to normal. It isn’t a big deal. It’s a great theme with or without bold post titles.
Thank you, but it’s still a no go. I have discovered that in “Graphene Options / Display / Text Style Options” I can change the settings for “Content Area” and they work, but none of the settings for “Title” or “Description” have any effect. Likewise, I used the “Custom CSS” area to paste in the text that you provided, but it had no effect. However, when I changed “title” to “content” it turned the content body bold. So both the text style options and custom CSS functions are working, but neither has any effect on post titles.
One other interesting observation – when I click to refresh the view of my actual web pages, the post titles and widget titles momentarily turn bold, for just a split second, then revert to normal again. This happens whether or not I have the custom CSS or text style options set to “bold.” I get exactly the same results on Firefox, IE and Chrome.
FYI – This is a new install of WordPress on a new hosting account running from a temporary address (http://174.132.106.2/~dlcastle/wordpress/). The only plugins are Akismet / Blubrry PowerPress / Jetpack by WordPress.com / Open external links in a new window / Velvet Blues Update URLs / WP Super Cache.

April 26, 2013 at 6:10 am #37907Thank You! I was just now researching how to have a standard thumbnail attached to each new post when my search caused me to stumble across the very box you’re talking about. Because I’m clueless about HTML, when I first reviewed the Graphene options settings I totally ignored that box, kind of like how I ignore anything written in Chinese characters that I don’t understand. I’ll go insert the magic code now and quit bothering smart people with ignorant questions 🙂
