probably i should start off with learning the basics of css
Unfortunately, it really is beyond the scope of this forum to actually teach basic CSS, although we do talk a lot about tweaking CSS code once you’ve got those basics, and neat tricks and techniques you can do with it.
Since you are willing to learn (thank you!), I highly recommend that you visit the W3school’s CSS pages here: http://www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp
I learned a lot from those tutorials. Try clicking on any of the “try it yourself” links, where you can experiment with code without risking messing up your own page.
I’m sure I’ve recommended other good sources in the past, as have Josh and Prasanna and many others. Perhaps we should start a sticky thread just for these resources. Hmmm……

Try Kalin’s Post List plugin. It might be just what you are looking for, although you will need to play around with the settings.
My tutorial is here:

You can drag a text widget to wherever you would like and just type in the shortcode.
possibly by ID #?
I would use a specific category or tag to set this up.
I just tried this out and it works great. Now I’ll have to rework some of my other widgets, because I like this way better.

Welcome aboard!
The nice thing about Graphene is that it is so flexible (wait until 1.6!), it is in active development, and it is well supported.
Your site looks good so far. I like the red color.
for example, how to just change the color of the menu bar
This has been discussed a lot recently. Search around in the forum and you will probably find exactly what you are looking for.
This is just a test site I’m using to get used to WP and Graphene…
This is a really good idea. It’s the best way to learn–try something and see what happens.

Yes, you can. You’ll need to add some custom css. See this post for details:
You can also style a single object as an inline style.
Keep in mind that, while this is cool, a lot of people may not see the entire image because of the width of their monitors.
Moved to Support.

Use the entire code I provided.
Where are you putting this code?

Or just use a custom menu:

the plugin would be mentioned (or available from) the website mentioned. For example, at the very top of the Graphene style sheet is:
/*
Theme Name: Graphene
Theme URI: http://www.khairul-syahir.com/wordpress-dev/graphene-theme
Description: The Graphene theme for WordPress is a stylish, neat, and tight WordPress theme supporting configurable columns layout options and 4So anyone wanting to know more about this theme could just go to that website.

Try actually clicking on the link to the style sheet and see if the authors included a website at the top. Some of them do. (I wish all of them did–it would make life much easier.)

The functions file is only for functions, so including a
<div>and a<ul>(and unclosed ones at that) will either do nothing or will only mess things up.Mod
The author of the plugin also has a support forum for it here:
