I don’t see a top bar and the nav bar has a light blue background. I can see your child theme style sheet (nicely organized, BTW. Well done!) and your original 1.6 stylesheet.

Try emptying your browser cache and disabling any caching plugins and see if that helps to take care of things.

This really is a matter of personal preference, so I find it hard to make a recommendation.

However, I will recommend a good resource: http://colorschemedesigner.com/

You can play around with various color schemes, preview both a light and a dark page using those colors, and even see what your site would look like to people with various forms of color blindness. It’s a cool resource.

Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by

This is the infamous “whitespace” problem. You have spaces or even returns at the end of your functions.php file. (Some text-editors add these–I have no idea why.) Edit your functions file to get rid of these, reupload it, and everything should be fine.

I like notepad++ for windoze (macpad++ is the Mac alternative, TexEdit is another good one for Mac), because it has a function that will strip all trailing spaces in order to prevent this problem.

I doubt it. A lot of people like to use pages in their slider, so I doubt that Syahir would do anything to disable that. 1.6 is a HUGE upgrade, code-wise. It’s more like 1.8 or 1.9 from the amount of code that has been changed. (I would not have been offended if Syahir just called it 2.0, even.) But there are always bits of code that need tweaked. That’s what alpha and beta testing is supposed to catch. It’s just impossible to catch all of them in that phase, since alpha and beta testers are a very small portion of the people who use Graphene, and don’t represent all possible configurations of settings and plugins. Syahir is actually away for a while (should be back soon), and I’m sure we’ll see a 1.6.1 release that will take care of a lot of these issues soon.

Well, the images you are using are 640px wide. Your slider is 940px wide. Hence, tiled background images in the slider. You need wider images.

a lot of warnings occured indicating the size of my image isn’t the right one for the background

You might want to make note of the specific warning messages you get, because that can help us to diagnose your issue.

When you say “background” here, are you referring to the background for the entire site? Or something else?

BTW, because WP uses PHP to generate html on the fly, all your pages are dynamic. (See this for an explanation: http://codex.wordpress.org/Pages#The_Dynamic_Nature_of_WordPress_.22Pages.22)

What exactly do you mean when you say “dynamic”?

leading me to believe that it appears to be having a problem displaying pages assigned to that category

It may be that the plugin you are using to assign pages to categories is incompatible with another plugin or incompatible with Graphene 1.6.

But first, try entering a number in the box for “Number of posts to display”

    #23946

I did that, but found that my header is like 100kb, which cannot be good for slow modems, SEO, etc.

Actually, this is not too bad, considering I’ve been on sites that have 1.3 MB background images. Needless to say, I didn’t stay there long.

You can control the size of an image by using the “export” or “export for web” function in most image editors. Actually, a .png file (your best bet — forget .gif or .jpg), with a slight gradient and a small logo, shouldn’t be that large a file. Try using the export and playing around with the settings.

Moved to Support. Please be sure to post in the correct section.

Without seeing your page, I’m guessing as to what you mean?

If you mean the slider (which rotates through recent posts) you can disable it by going to Graphene Options >> General Options >> Slider and ticking the box marked “disable slider”.

If you mean the rotating featured images in the header, then go to Graphene Options >> Display Options >> Header Display Options and untick the box marked “Disable Featured Image replacing header imag”.

If you mean something else, please elaborate.
