Slider no longer working with version 1.6
-
I updated to version 1.6 and now the featured slider is blank. The slider displayed ‘pages’ (I have a plugin that allows pages to be assigned to a category, so I’ve assigned certain pages to the category ‘pages’). Other than that, I am not doing anything special re: the slider. Site: govstrategicsolution.org/wordpress. Any ideas?
Please give the correct URL. govstrategicsolution.org/wordpress is broken.
Sorry. Its http://www.govstrategicsolutions.org/wordpress. I lft out an ‘s’.
I believe the issue is that I assigned pages to a category and assigned that category to the slider; although I checked off show posts for specified categories in slider options, it still handled pages. Now it appears that the slider will not display pages (even though they are assigned to said category). Is this intentional or a bug?

Hmmm…works for me. What are your current slider settings?
Disable slider – blank
Show n slider – show posts from category
Categories to display – Pages
Number of posts – blank
Slider Image – fisrt image
Animation – fade
height – 200
speed – 7000
transition speed – 800
move slider to bottom – blank
As I previously relayed, I have a plugin that allows pages to be assigned to a category, hence, pages assigned to category ‘pages’ were displayed in the slider.
As a test, I assigned an existing post to category ‘pages’ and it displayed, leading me to believe that it appears to be having a problem displaying pages assigned to that category.
I appreciate you looking into this since I moved to v1.6 in my production environment directly, as opposed to first testing it in a test environment. One lives and learns…

It may be that the plugin you are using to assign pages to categories is incompatible with another plugin or incompatible with Graphene 1.6.
But first, try entering a number in the box for “Number of posts to display”

I doubt it. A lot of people like to use pages in their slider, so I doubt that Syahir would do anything to disable that. 1.6 is a HUGE upgrade, code-wise. It’s more like 1.8 or 1.9 from the amount of code that has been changed. (I would not have been offended if Syahir just called it 2.0, even.) But there are always bits of code that need tweaked. That’s what alpha and beta testing is supposed to catch. It’s just impossible to catch all of them in that phase, since alpha and beta testers are a very small portion of the people who use Graphene, and don’t represent all possible configurations of settings and plugins. Syahir is actually away for a while (should be back soon), and I’m sure we’ll see a 1.6.1 release that will take care of a lot of these issues soon.
