When not perched on my workspace, I tremendously enjoy hiking in the bushes and climbing mountains. They serve as much-needed refuges from the pretense of cities.

For the issue of parent’s featured image appearing as the child page’s featured image, see this post: https://forum.graphene-theme.com/topic/child-thumbnails#post-2539

Use CSS absolute positioning on the menu.

In reply to: I don't want to display subpages excerpt on parent page…
March 30, 2011 at 8:59 pm #12842tvh: looks like it’s working fine for you now.
dabrowski: you’re welcome 🙂
findelfisch: not quite sure what you’re trying to achieve here. If you’re just trying to arrange the order of the menu items in the navigation menu, try using the Custom Menu function instead in Appearance > Menus.
Regarding the excerpt, it’s standard WordPress behaviour that it strips out all of the html tags. You can look for some plugin that allows html tags instead.

In reply to: Can't find graphene theme on dreamweaver after downloading site
March 30, 2011 at 8:53 pm #13247You don’t need to actually download the entire site. Just download the files you need to edit, edit it, and then upload it back.

Use Static Front Page instead. See here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_a_Static_Front_Page

I am reluctant to add options pertaining to styling to the theme’s options page. Firstly, I think it’s something not worth pursuing because you never can know all the different styling modification that people will have in mind. Secondly, styling changes made in the options page will have to be loaded on every page load and is never cached by the browser, increasing bandwidth usage and slowing down page load, particularly with heavy modifications.
Child theme is definitely the best way. For modifications that span only a few lines of additional CSS code, that’s what the Custom CSS option is there for.

Sorry, IE6 is no longer supported by the theme. It takes a lot of effort to support IE6, and I mean a lot. It’s just not worth the effort.
We should all be encouraging people to upgrade their browsers instead of supporting obsolete browsers.

By ‘static post’ do you mean ‘sticky post’ or ‘static page’? There’s no such thing as ‘static post’ in WordPress…
