Sorry, one more related question… Are dropdown sub-items only possible for sub-pages within the main site? Is it possible to have them point at custom links outside WordPress?

Just to clarify, is this right? The only way to get drop-down menus is to avoid setting any location in the dashboard section that reads:

“Your theme supports 2 menus. Select which menu appears in each location.

Header Menu

Secondary Menu”

When I have tried various combinations of single and double menus, I seem to lose the dropdown facility. In fact, I did not know dropdowns were possible because I just assumed I had to specify a location as told – I discovered them by accident when I installed a child theme.

Basically, the dashboard is giving bad advice in its instructions to specify a location. I guess this is a problem with the dashboard itself and can’t be fixed at the theme level? Might be worth adding a warning to the theme’s documentation.

I had the same experience… If you install the theme into the default WordPress starting site, you initially have a couple of items in the menu, including one called ‘Sample page’. These disappear when you explicitly specify the menu within the Menu edit interface. Basically, it appears that you are replacing some original default menu with the specific custom menu. To get the items back you need to specify the links/pages in the new menu.

I haven’t got a screenshot because I would have to undo my fixes to recreate the issue. I don’t see it as a bug because you get what you specify.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for this theme. I am still setting up my site but the theme seems to be working well. I just installed a child theme, to modify the colours, and it is also working. Some of my settings were reset to default values when I switched to the child theme but I guess that is expected.

I had to make one small change to the style.css template – I changed the import line to read:

@import url(“../graphene/style.css”);

I realise now that this actually matches the above example. My version, probably copied from some other thread, did not have the initial two dots so the url was wrong. The other mistake I made at first was putting the child directory as a sub-folder of the graphene folder, so my dashboard didn’t see it. I only mention this in case others make the same mistake.
