Everything now working as it should be. Prassana SP you’re a star I much appreciate the time you have taken over this. I realise I have much to learn.
Okay some good news Webmaster Tools now seems to be verified, perhaps a delayed reaction to some of the changes? However Google Analytics still showing tracking not installed. Strange one without the other.
I’ve done that and taken it out of the head seaction and deleted the cache but still the same. Google analytics says tracking not installed
I put it in options/ advanced/ custom head tags
Just got Wondows 8 and the’ve changed the way to do screenshot so I have just pasted info. I have taken out my Google Analytics UA number
Code to insert into the <head> element
<script type=”text/javascript”>
var _gaq = _gaq || [];
_gaq.push();
_gaq.push();
(function() {
var ga = document.createElement(‘script’); ga.type = ‘text/javascript’; ga.async = true;
ga.src = (‘https:’ == document.location.protocol ? ‘https://ssl’ : ‘http://www’) + ‘.google-analytics.com/ga.js’;
var s = document.getElementsByTagName(‘script’)[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s);
})();
</script>>
I’ve just cleared it now but still does not work. I had also tried to verify it both as http://www.deadseamemories.com and deadseamemories.com Would that have made a difference?
Also this site hosted by Hostgator is an addon site with http://www.writtentoorder as my main site – not sure if this makes any difference.
Okay thanks for getting back to me. I’ve tried again to get this to work, I copied the snipped from Google Analytics and pasted it in
options/advanced/custom<head> tags.
It still comes up with this message We weren’t able to verify your site: http://www.deadseamemories.com/
It also says Verification failed. The Google Analytics tracking code on your site uses the traditional snippet. You can verify site ownership only with the asynchronous snippet placed in the <head> section of your home page.
Now the tracking code I used looks like your example so I’m puzzled why this is happening
That was quick, thanks very much.
Thanks Kenneth,
I suspect you are correct but wonder if anybody else is with Hostgator just to make sure before I go back to them.
Okay, thanks for your help it’s much appreciated.
