Thanks that seems to have solved the issue.

It is definitely tricky with all of the changes in Gutenberg.

I go back to the old days when WP editing was HTML and I could use style=”” as needed. I have to use Custom HTML for some sophisticated tables.

has a custom table that cannot be render with Gutenberg at all.

I noticed some posts with large images in them, this must be the feature image you mentioned, I have that turned off as I use the theme at 2000 pixels wide. Insteal I use a manual image in a given post.

Because the layout customization is a cripped feature the feature image idea does not work well.

I have my site set to 2000px wide, so unless the image is huge no feature image appears in the post article body

not sure if that is relevant?
