I have placed po.st code in the graphine theme settings to provide sharing links. It looks great when situated at bottom of post, but readers have to “click through” to the entire post to see the buttons.

If I choose “top of post”, the icons show up on each home page post, but they take over the text ruin the placement of images.

I looked through the forums and came up empty other than this option will be released in v 1.7.

Can anyone recommend what the best way of getting these icons to show up at the top of each post without jumbling up the text and images?

    Hi 🙂

I’m trying to figure out the Google +1 Button. I’m probably missing something obvious, or maybe I’m suffering from burn-out…

What I want to do is have Google, and later Facebook and Twitter, buttons appear beside the little printer icon. Also, it seems that there should be a way to get the email envelope icon to show up there as well.

When I put in the <g:plusone></g:plusone> in the social sharing box, it generates the plus one button inline with my page heading, causing it to be out of line.

I’ve sorta found the bit that calls the printer icon, and where it calls the google icon with the view source function. (lines 144-148 & line 167?) I’m not finding it in the css or templates.

I’m assuming that the rest of the google code is around somewhere, and I only need to call up the button when I find out where to put the code to do that. I’m also assuming that when I know where to place the code for the google button, I will be able to add facebook and twitter buttons in the same area.

    Thankyou for your time,

    Richard 🙂

    I really need to get a child-theme going…

I am also wondering if anyone knows where I can change the color of the header bars?

This has been discussed a lot in this forum. I mean, a lot. Like ad nauseum a lot. If you search around in the forum, and take a peek at the theme’s style sheet (which is fairly well commented, so you won’t lose your way), I’m sure you’ll figure it out. Feel free to ask us a specific question if you get stuck on something.

My problem is that the code I enter within the Graphene options page to show my social sharing button works on every page except the Blog page. It will work if I select a specific post and open it, but not if I simply land on the Blog page and read the post(s) there.

Of course, those buttons always link to the page they originate from (unless you tweak the code), so even if someone clicks on them from the front page, the link created will be to the front page, not the specific blog post.

    Hello STV,

The social sharing buttons on the frontpage are via “Addthis” pluugin. You can download and install it via wordpress.org. Under the plugin settings, select “show on homepage” and all the social sharing options you want will show on your homepage/frontpage as well.

    Hope I have been helpful?

    Best regards

    Action hook tutorial is here:

    http://blog.kjodle.net/2011/11/04/graphene-action-hook-widgets-an-easy-way-to-modify-your-blog/

I think you’ll find that easy to do, although it might take a couple of tries to get it right.

Please note, however, that social sharing buttons inevitably link to the page they appear on. So if all your posts or excerpts on your front page show social sharing buttons, clinking on them will create a link to your front page, not to the post they originate from.

You’ll need to use the AddThis API to explicitly define the URL, Title, and Description of the page the buttons are sharing, regardless of on which page the button is placed: http://www.addthis.com/help/url-and-title

Hi, I’d like to have my AddThis button code show up on the front page of my site, not just once someone drills down into a particular post. I searched the forums and found this (now-closed) thread on the same subject:

    https://forum.graphene-theme.com/graphene-support/show-social-sharing-button-on-latest-posts-front-page

I updated the theme and noted the verbiage about the([#post-url] and [#post-title])tags on the options screen, but I’m not sure exactly how to implement this.

Any idea how I can get the buttons to display on the front page?

    Thanks,

    -Ben

When the Social Sharing buttons are turned on to show up at the top of a post, they push the top content over to make space for themselves. It kinda messes up the formatting of my posts. Is there a way to make them appear just below the post title and above the start of the post content?

Sorry if you get this post twice, but I don’t see my last reply.

    1) Disabling on pages: You were right. I missed the Advanced settings “Show on homepage” and “Show on pages”.

    2) Settings order of precedence: It really helps to understand that a plugin will usually take precedence to any default theme behavior. Kind of the inconsistent with stylesheets, but good to know.

    3) Styling for social sharing buttons: I’m wanting the buttons aligned vertically outside of the main content and outside of the widget areas. I’d like to see them in the tab like the “Follow-me” tab, which is far right or far left. I don’t see anything in your styling where you have done rules for addthis_toolbox, so I will go ahead and add them to the child theme

    Thanks again for your help.

First of all, I want to thank you for a great theme. I’ve used a few frameworks like Hybrid and Weaver, and I think I am going to build more sites based on Graphene now.

I’m hoping you can help me with a few questions about AddThis. I’m using Graphene 1.5.4 with AddThis Social Bookmarking Widget 2.3.0

    1) Disabling on pages: In the Graphene Options, General I have “Show social sharing button” checked and “Show in Pages as well?” unchecked. I still have social sharing buttons on pages.

    2) Settings order of precedence: It appears to me that the Graphene Options do not override the plugin Setttings for AddThis. For example, if I have Setttings, AddThis “Choose the sharing tool to display below the post” checked and the Graphene Options, General “Social sharing buttons location” set to “Top of posts”, it uses the plugin Setttings for AddThis instead of the Graphene Options. Is this expected behaviour?

    3) Styling for social sharing buttons: I would like to place the icons vertically in a tab under the “Follow-me” tab. If you have done this, I would really appreciate the code to put in the child-theme CSS. I’m sure I can figure it out based on the AddThis Client API http://www.addthis.com/help/client-api, but I’m a bit rushed for time.

BTW, I am receiving an “Internal Server Error” when I search on the forum, and just wanted to let you know.
