You can specify a header image that will be used for a particular page by setting a Featured Image for that page which has a dimension of greater than or equal to 960×198 pixels.

If you’re referring to the shadow around the container of the site that separates it from the background, that has been removed for Firefox 3.6.x and below because it causes too much performance hit, which shows as laggy scrolling. It’s still there for other modern browsers.

Seems like there’s an extra text widget above the Google Friend Connect widget with an extra, unclosed <div> and <a> elements. Check your widgets again, and try moving the Google Friend Connect widget to the bottom of the sidebar just to see if it works.
