That’s a built-in WordPress feature. When in the Edit Post or Edit Page screen, click on the Add an Image button, then upload some images, and then click on the “Gallery” tab, and click Insert gallery.

That’s because the theme put a maximum width of any image inside a post to be at most 98% of the post’s width, so that it won’t overflow the content area.

Are you using the Custom Menu feature?
