Nope, I didn’t “enable the alternate widget area for the front page”.
Went ahead and rebuilt (some of ) the theme options without re-importing them; the footer and the social media in the top bar.
Don’t have an understanding yet about how WP 3.5 update messes up column mode, except that it seems to do with the import of the theme options, it can be corrected by choosing the template with the columns from the page edit itself, and it doesn’t seem to be due to the widgets selected.
Love more insight before I update my other Graphene sites (I <3 Graphene) to WP 3.5.
OK- tried deactivating all plug ins– no improvement.
Went to graphene options/reset to default and sidebar came back.
Something to do with importing graphene settings?
2 text widgets, mailchimp, and HL twitter. Have tried several other widget options, I can get none to display
Hrumph. Now I’ve got the right sidebar, and imported my settings, but the widgets aren’t displaying there although they are intact on the Widget page…
Aha, but when I choose 2 columns, sidebar on the right, it displays properly…
One column, no sidebar
Reset done to default Graphene settings…
Updated Graphene 1.8.2 with WordPress 3.5, believe the site had been updated to most recent WordPress prior.
Went to Graphene options, exported setings, tried reset to default, imported settings txt file, no change
Went to Graphene options, exported setings, tried reset to normal website, imported settings txt file, no change

Nope; deactivated all 7 plug-ins, no ability to change column mode 🙁
Thank you– but does anyone have an answer? ^_^
