January 2, 2013 at 2:00 am #34632that did it thanks! i use chrome, good to know about FF.
my only reason would be that i am just learning to use wordpress and this is a live site… i wasnt sure what the update would do and if i would have to fix the look of things. if its simply a code update i can go ahead and do it. but not before bed. LOL

January 2, 2013 at 1:45 am #34630no that was not it – it removed home from the menu navigation. i would like the “home” title in the content area for the home page hidden. i believe this may be .page-title ?? It appears in blue above the page content in the center column.
OK I have re-enabled it. But as it is a live site, I want to disable it again before the evening is over if I can’t fix it. Thanks.
i updated to WP 3.5 and updated these plugins:
all in one seo pack v 1.6.15.3
display widgets v 1.22
exclude pages from navigation v 1.92
google analyticator v 6.4.1
it quit working in the sense that the slider box is there with no image, just all white. link to screenshot:

January 2, 2013 at 12:54 am #34628it is not working. it removed it from the navigation menu, but not the content area.
i tried both:
.home #header-menu li:first-child
{display:none;}
.home #header-menu > li:first-child
{display:none;}
i also tried this
.home #secondary-menu > li:first-child
{display:none;}
might it be a page title assignment?
