Greetings, very much a WP Newbie. I have spent the last 3 nights trying to figure out how to change the page order from the navigation bar-I have tried several plugins in with no success, have tried the page order in the admin part on page, have watched youtube videos. Nothing works. Found something about

    (?php wp_list_pages(‘sort_column=menu_order&title_li=<h2>Pages</h2>’); ?>)

BUT have no clue where to put that code and don’t want to mess anything up if that’s not right-any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Greetings ecofx,

Login to your admin panel. Go to your “pages” tab. Click on one of your pages and in the next window, over toward the right of the screen is “Page Attributes”. Look for the “Order” attribute.

Just type in the number of the sequence you would like that page to appear.

    Cheers!

Hmm.. tell me briefly how you structured the content of your site. I’m having a little trouble figuring it out exactly (it’s late here).

What are the items in your menu? Are they pages? posts? categories?

Josh, they are going to be pages. WP or the theme is currently listing the pages alphabetically. I would like to list them in any order. For example under the “About Us” button, I want to be able to switch the order of the pages making “Who are come” directly under “About Us”, followed by “What we is doing” (It will actually say What we are Doing-I was just getting frustrated)

Have you tried using Custom Menu? Go to WP Admin > Appearance > Menus. Ken has a good tutorial on this: http://blog.kjodle.net/2011/08/25/how-to-create-and-use-custom-menus-in-wordpress/

Yes, played around with it earlier as well-it looked fine in admin, but when posted it displayed as wanted until I actually selected “About us” then it displayed alphabetically.

I’m wondering if I have to change some code, just don’t know where that code lives or what to change it to. I’ve seen others have had similar problems but no solid solution has been found at least none I could find.I found some postings about post-title and needing to change to menu-order, but again where exactly do i make this change and how many instances.

No no, if you use Custom Menu you shouldn’t need to bother with changing codes or changing the page orders. You can simply drag and drop the menu items to rearrange them.

Give a read through the tutorial at the link I provided above if you haven’t already. It shows you all the things you can do with the Custom Menu feature.
