Graphene 1.6 sidebar widget problem

You have two default widget areas on Appearance -> Widgets. Sidebar 1 is for the right side, sidebar 2 is for the left side. On your separate pages you have to specify what type of layout you want.

For example if you have two columns sidebar on the right picked, your widgets will appear on the right, if you have added widgets on Sidebar 1. There’s few plugins out there that lets you specify certain widgets to appear on certain pages. I use “Dynamic Widgets” which works flawlessly with Graphene.

Now if you see Archives, and Meta on a sidebar automatically that means your layout is chosen with two columns and you have no widgets places in that certain page. You have to select one column in order for the sidebar Archives & Meta to disappear or add some other widget in the correct sidebar.

As far as your widgets wrapping over, or going down you will need to take all previous CSS with custom widths/margins/padding and delete them. Graphene has an easier way of adjusting your widget/post/column sizes in Appearance -> Graphene Options -> Display -> Column Widths Options – v1.6

@Syahir Hakim: when I posted, I had put the calendar and search in just to see it populate. For some reason, it wasn’t. However, when I put the text widget with a sentence in all areas, they all appeared. If I didn’t have any widgets, I got the meta and archives widget appearing and couldn’t get rid of them (I had the settings at two columns, with the widgets to appear only on the right).

@tee member: Thanks for this answer. I ended up putting a text widget in every space and wrote down a ‘map’ on paper. I will look into the plug-in you suggested. For the moment, I decided to forego the widgets and I’ll play with them more when I do more site design.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the help.
