Bug? unwanted horizontal scollbar

  • zrowbd

    I’ve recently started using the Graphene theme on a website I’m building for my mom’s business. I especially liked the fact that it supports RTL languages and the site looks great!

    Only one problem – my main navigation menu is acting very weird (i THINK that’s the source of the problem) and as a result I’m getting a huge horizontal scroll bar with bits and pieces of the drop-down menus hanging there in the vast white space..

    I looked online for a solution but couldn’t find anything or an “out of the box” solution (i’m not very proficient with code..)

    Here’s the website – check it out and PLEASE let me know how I can fix this

    (it’s obviously not yet finished so don’t judge.. I just need to get this technicality fixed! haha)

    Thank you very much in advance!

    I’ve never seen Graphene implemented on an RTL site before, so upon first looking at your site, all I can say is “wow!” It looks really great.

    That said, I’m having difficulty figuring out what is going on here. What plugins do you have installed?

    I really don’t have many plugins installed on this site as i’m trying to keep it as light and responsive as possible. (signing up to amazon S3 soon to really speed things up).

    Here’s the list of plugins:

    AddThis Social Bookmarking Widget

    Contact Form 7

    Jetpack by WordPress.com

    Page Links To

    Wordpress Importer

    That’s it really..

    I don’t really have a clue. I would suggest disabling plugins and reactivating them one at a time to see if that’s the problem.

    ok i’ll give it a shot next week when i come back from vacation but i doubt it’s a plugin issue.. didn’t get a chance to install anything shady yet 😉

    Plugins don’t have to be shady (although some of them are — love this expression!). It’s just that some of them don’t get along very well with the rest.

    Try adding this to the Custom CSS option:

    #nav li ul {
    position: absolute;
    width: 200px;
    right: -999em;
    left: auto;

    I’m back from vacation and was just about to try the plugin troubleshoot Kenneth suggested. I wanted to come here and ask if deactivating a plugin would reset its options when re-activated (newb question i know..) and then I saw your reply. Tried it and it worked perfect!

    Thanks Kenneth for reviewing my issue and responding so quickly! It’s awesome to know there’s active support for this WP theme.

    and ofcourse – Thank you Syahir for taking the time and providing me this code fix! the site looks so much more professional now. Thank you for creating this theme and taking a hands-on approach in making sure it’s alive and kicking for everyone!

    I’m loving the Graphene theme and would suggest it to everyone i know (especially loving the RTL support) and hope I won’t have to bother you guys with any more issues =]

    Thanks again you guys are awesome!

    my happiness was short-lived 🙁

    That code adjustment to the custom CSS caused my drop-down menu to not drop down anymore… help?

    Try replacing the theme’s rtl.css file with the updated one here: http://graphene.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/graphene/rtl.css
