Boom. Legend, thanks.
Thanks. Job done.
Ha! I even spelt it FSP rather than FTP.
Thanks so much for explaining it to me in layman’s terms. I’ll try to progress from here.
I have a question. I’ve found some good info on how to set up a child theme but unfortunately I get stuck at the first hurdle.
Everyone says “set up a wp-contents/themes folder…..like it is the most basic thing to do. But how do I do it?
We had a web designer build our website (completely separate) and then set up the basic wordpress template for this blog. Therefore, if any wp files were automatically downloaded to a computer it would be on their computer not mine.
I’ve no idea how to set up extra content folders.
Please, if you do answer this, try to be basic, I won’t understand answer that say “create a folder using FSP or WMV….(or any other abbreviation).
I think the person who creates beginners guides that really are aimed at beginners and not programmers will be a millionaire. 🙂
Thanks a lot for the support.
I can only think that the theme files have been edited by some of our plug ins as we do not have the skills to edit the Graphene theme intentionally.
For example, I don’t really undestand the parent/child stuff. I’ll try to read up about it now as I think I will need to set up a child theme to avoid plugins adjusting things in the future.
If you have a quick step by step guide or blog I can read it would be much appreciated.
I finally figured it out.
I was in HTML editor rather than visual editor.
Thanks Kenneth, sorry I didn’t understand when you told me to be in visual editor. I hadn’t noticed there was a visual editor and HTML editor option at the top of the post box.
Thanks Kenneth
Still not working for me unfortunately. Frustrating as I’m sure it should work no problem.
Not sure if I’m using the visual editor or TinyMCE Editor so I’ll tell you exactly what I’m doing.
I go to Dashboard
Then click on Posts.
Then select the post I want to edit
I then type the text I want to use as a link at the bottom of my post
I select the text
I click on link
In the box I select the other post I want to link to (I’d like to select it to open in a separate window)
I update link
It generally puts the link at the top of the post. I’ve tried moving it. Either way, it never works.
When I update the whole post and go to view it there is never any link
There must be something I’m missing but I can’t think what it is. Do I have to tick or untick something in Graphene options?
By the way, in Permalink setting I’ve selected “post name”. Is this good/bad? Which permalink setting is preferable for site optimisation?
So so grateful for this support. You guys are heros.
…..and it’s not that I want to just link the next post. I want to know how to put links to other pages in general…..especially other pages in my blog.
Sorry, I don’t understand. Am I supposed to copy that into the bottom of the post?
What is the “link” button for when I’m writing posts if not to put a link to other pages?
Ahhh yes. Thank you. It automatically gives the indentation I wanted too.
Thanks a lot
