Thanks
Quote:I just looked at your site in mobile. However, I cannot reproduce the issue that the secondary menu is hiding the primary menu. It’s working as intended as far as I can tell. Can you provide a screenshot when this is happening on your device?Once I changed the drop down menu from “home” which was the first tab on the menu to “topics” which was the last item on the menu, I no longer have the issue of it covering up the other menu items.
Quote:Given the amount of links you’d like to include in the menu though, I would suggest using the <select> menu instead of the dropdown menu. You can switch to <select> menu from the theme’s options page.I have looked at using that option also. I like how it looks and works on my husband’s phone. I don’t like how it looks on my phone. I know it is a characteristic of the individual phones and not the theme, so there is nothing I can do about it, but I may go that way. At least that way each page has it’s own line and since some of the titles are long. Unless you are looking for the <select> menu it also isn’t very noticeable. I don’t want people who aren’t techno savy to miss seeing there are other pages to look at, but maybe I am not giving people enough credit, most people who have mobile devices I imaginge are fairly techno savy.
I am not sure how to do a screen shot of our phones (other than taking a picture of it with another camera) to show you what the drop down menus are doing, but maybe I just shouldn’t go that route and then I won’t have to worry about it.
Thanks again for all you help.

Thanks for your information. Just before reading this I figured out something that may work. Instead of having the child pages in a drop down menu from home (which you say I shouldn’t do anyway) I have added them to a widget. It still takes up space, but at least they are not all clumped together. This gives it more of a break.
I have also learned that different phones (and other mobile divices) show things quite differently. My son says there are features that are inherent to the device. I have been looking at the site on my Samsung Galaxy and then switched to my husband’s Motorola Razor. That was a surprise. So I am learning you cannot be all things to all devices.
Quote:This is an inherent characteristic of mobile devices – in that it has very limited screen space. Which is we’ve provided means for you to use different menu on for the mobile theme than the desktop theme. The intent is so that you can create a menu that’s more optimised for the limited real estate in mobile devices by using less menu items, short menu labels, etc.Okay, I went in and shortened the labels. Not sure how to shorten the child labels (will have to think about that)
My website is currently on a development site (so I don’t want to make it public), I hope to have it go live next week. I will email you the web address. I am still playing around with the mobile part of it. So while I am playing I still have the widget on and have the drop down menu eventually I will take one or the other off. In playing with the two phones sometimes the drop down menu looks good in a light color and other times it is in a dark blue with black print that can’t hardly be read. I need to go look at what colors I have it set to but have to run to a meeting right now.
Thanks for your continued assistance.

Thanks for you reply. I was able to fix the double posted graphics.
A question on the menu. So I assigned a custom menu to the mobile and now have the drop down menu, but I have 7 pages in my main menu, so that depending on the size the the device there are multiple rows to list them. When I select the main the secondary menu hides the items in the primary menu and there seems to be no way to close the secondary menu so that I can see the primary menu again. I have to press the back button and end up on a previously viewed page. Also there is no way to go back to the home page once you leave it, because when you press the home button all is does is open the secondary menu.
Is there something else I need to be setting up to fix these issues or is this just how it works?
If this is how it works, maybe I should just make all the pages part of the main menu for the mobile.
Please advise.
And again, thank you so much for your help.
