youtube video not display correctly in Graphene mobile neo version
-
Hi, I have a video on http://www.mattfurness.co.uk/biography/ but when it is viewed on my Samsung phone it does not appear to show in a responsive manner. The rest of the content does which makes me wonder if there is some additional code required. Any thoughts?
Appreciate your time and help, as always.
Chris
AdminHi Chris,
I tried visiting your site using a mobile phone, but it doesn’t seem like it’s using Graphene Mobile Neo. Or have you had it disabled?
Thanks for getting back to me Syahir.
I confirm that I am indeed using Graphene Mobile Neo and I believe have installed it correctly (maybe not!) I have used gmneo-helper v1.0.3 and any-mobile-theme-switcher-pro v1.6.
The installation is the same as all my Graphene themed WordPress sites, so your comments are interesting, especially as I am reviewing them all checking that they are mobile friendly.
What do you think might be wrong?
Thanks again,
Chris
AdminOK, now it is showing Neo. Are you using any caching plugin by any chance?
As for the video, how is it appearing in a non-responsive manner? Does the video overflows the width?
You seem to be experiencing the same inconsistency in displaying the mobile version that I do Syahir, which may point to a cache plugin issue. If any of my sites do not display the mobile version I can usually rectify this by logging in to my WP admin, re-saving the AMTS settings and clearing the cache. I have also run the home page through the ‘Mobile Friendly Test’ in Google Webmaster – yesterday the page passed, but just now it didn’t as the desktop version displayed. This is the inconsistency I am experiencing.
I am using W3 Total Cache and confirm that I have enabled both High and Low Group Names in User Agent Groups, with ‘Pass Through’ shown, as well as adding amts_mobile_theme to Rejected cookies in Page Cache (where it also shows wptouch_switch_toggle which I am not using??)
Regarding the video, for me on my Samsung Galaxy it is appearing much narrower and the left hand edge is off screen.
I hope that this helps and that we can identify the issue, as all my WP sites have the same settings.
Look forward to hearing from you Syahir, and thanks as always for your time and support.
Chris
AdminQuote:You seem to be experiencing the same inconsistency in displaying the mobile version that I do Syahir, which may point to a cache plugin issue.Are you using the Pro version of Any Mobile Theme Switcher? This is required for W3TC compatibility.
Quote:Regarding the video, for me on my Samsung Galaxy it is appearing much narrower and the left hand edge is off screen.Try adding this code into Neo’s Custom CSS option:
.entry-content iframe {
width: 100%;
margin-left: -20px;
}I have added the code for the video but it makes no difference on my Samsung Galaxy. I have left the code there to see if it changes anything for you.
I am using the Pro version of AMTS v 1.6 and have coded settings as instructed on the AMTS page, but this post is interesting http://dineshkarki.com.np/forums/topic/recommended-w3-total-cache-settings
Maybe other W3 settings are in conflict with the plugin. Is there another plugin that will work with Graphene Mobile Neo, and W3?
It is the inconsistency of displaying the mobile version that is strange. Sometimes it does and others not. Same goes for the Mobile Friendly Test in Google Webmasters – sometimes it passes, others not!!
Chris
Syahir, I also took the opportunity of writing to Dinesh author of AMTS, and he replied as below. I have updated my sites and will see how it goes. Thought it best to share.
Many thanks, Chris
