Will activating a child theme make me lose current settings

I’ve created a child theme but when I do a live preview, the site looks like I’d be starting from scratch again. I have read something about having to re-upload header images and possible doing something with my custom menus. What I’m not sure of is if I activate my child theme, does wordpress update my child theme with the current settings of the parent theme. I have made a couple of changes via the custom css within the graphene options but I’m not too worried about that. Also, this might be a real dumb question but if I do activate the child theme, do I still have the option of going back to the parent theme by simply re-activating it?

You have the option of exporting the theme options and then restoring them. You might want to export the theme options and then switch to your child theme. You can always switch back to the main theme and restore the theme options.

I’m kind of new to all this so I’m not sure how to do this. I’ve added a link to a screen shot of what my child page looks like. (hope the link works)

If you take a look at my site you will see how I would like it to look. I’m hoping for an easy solution but realize that I might have done something wrong when creating the child page.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    The link returns a 404.

How have you made changes? If you have made changes via the Custom CSS feature or the Colours pane, you can simply copy and paste those values to your child theme stylesheet.

Without hover values or a line of demarcation between your drop-down menu items, your menus are difficult to navigate, btw.

Not sure what you mean by this but it’s something I’ll be looking into once I can figure out this child theme issue. If I activate my child theme for a short time, could you have a look and see what I’m talking about in regards to it?

Graphene Options are not affected when you switch to a child theme. They’ll be preserved and you won’t have to set them back again. Custom Header option will have to be set up again though, and your custom menus will need to be reassigned to their menu locations.
