Can anyone help me? I love this theme and i’d like to extend it so I can provide some free advertising to local business. What I would like is to have dedicated adverts in the slider itself. i.e. the 2nd or 3rd item in the slider, instead of being one of the regular blog posts, instead would be an advert.
How do I do this? Do I create the advert as a piece of HTML and insert as an iFrame into the slider space? How do I get the theme to ensure that slider item number 2 is always the advert. Plus if I wanted item number 2 to chose from one of several available adverts, is that possible?
I have some skills in PHP and I could start hacking this together now, but i wanted the advice of the commuity first so I went in the right direction.
You can modify the posts to be displayed in the slider by adding filter to the returned object containing the posts. You can either populate the posts manually or get it from a list of posts in WordPress.
It can get rather involved, but IMO this is the best way to do it since it doesn’t involve editing the theme’s files so you won’t lose the modification in the next update.
