I thought I had create a child theme a year ago but can’t remember now and don’t know where to find it. Is it required to update to version 1.8 Will I loose my info if I haven’t create one? Where should I look to find it if I still need it?

No, you don’t need a child theme to update to version 1.8. But if you have been editing the theme’s files, then those edits will be lost when you update.

Where would I check to see if I’ve edited the theme? I thought I set up a child theme a long time ago but I checked my file manager under wp/content/theme and I only have graphene and not graphene child. Was there another way to do it. I swear I did a child them but now I can’t find where I did it. Hmmm….

Second question – where can I locate the most current directions to create a child theme? If Ido create one should I copy content from somewhere that has my current customizations. Please advise

I updated before and I thought it would have wiped out all my customizations if I didn’t have a child theme. Can you look at my site and see: http://www.milesmomma.com what I mean. Maybe I’m loosing my mind 🙂 I swear I had a child theme but when reading the literature about creating one doesn’t seem like I have it. I believe I set one up a year ago.

Er… if you can’t remember, it’s probably best to do a backup of your current version of the theme first, just in case.
