I recently created my site, so I think that I have the most recent version before 3.5.2. Do I need to deactivate all plugins before updating? Are there any other recommendations before updating (I could only find recommendations when updating from very old versions)? Does this usually go pretty smoothly?
No you do not need to deactivate any plugins. While it is advised to backup your data, I have never ran into issues. I have updated to the new WP with this theme with no issues.
