Thanks, colours and widgets

First off, a huge thank-you for a great theme. Have recently played around with a new front page and very pleased (http://markaeology.com).

I have had a slight problem, though. I wanted to change the colours for various elements using the new colour option panel under ‘Graphene Theme Options’. I changed about half the elements that are available, but after saving the options only one element took the change (the slider background or button border). Nothing else changed. I’m not currently using a child theme (yet, I think I soon will), but I do have one line of Custom CSS (hiding the post content on the front page). Is this a glitch or am I doing something wrong?

The second, quick question, is I want to change the font for widget content areas. As this isn’t available under options I know I need to do either Custom CSS or a child theme, but can’t find the appropraite style. Am I being blind?

Thanks in advance for any help, and thanks again for a terrific theme.

    Mark.

EDIT: Just remembered something else. I use a plugin enabling me to put a widget area on a page, but doing so causes the widget area to be formatted with a bullet-point. Any idea why this would happen?

    Hi Mark,

The colour codes that you entered is missing a hash (#) in front of it. Colour codes in CSS take the following form:

    #123abc

That is, it always starts with a hash character, followed by either 3 or 6 hexadecimal colour values.

    Hi Syahir,

Thanks for your reply. I know about the # needed when using CSS, but I was using the “Colours Options” panel. I can change any colour, either by keying in the number or using the colour picker provided, but while the changes are saved in the options, they don’t change on my website.

    Regards,

    Mark.

Even in the Colour Options panel, you still need to include the # in front. If you use the colour pickers, they should automatically add those hashes. If you manually enter the colour codes, make sure you include the # in front.

Hi, Syahir, and thank you for your continued support.

If I add the #, it disappears as soon as I leave that field, and I’ve already tried using the colour picker. I presume that the widget, slider and button previews are supposed to change when you pick the colours, but they don’t, they remain blue.

Basically, my “Colour Options” just doesn’t work. You obviously haven’t come across this before, so I would assume it’s a conflict with a plugin that I’ve installed. Does this sound logical?

I have quite a few, so do you recommend any way I could find out what’s causing the conflict without deactivating each plugin, as that will obviously delete all settings associated with that plugin?

    Thanks again.

I don’t think deactivating a plugin will delete all settings associated with that plugin. I’ve disabled all the plugins on my website once for troubleshooting, and reactivated them again and the settings are all still there.
