is there a way of showing most current posts but have one specific post always show first

Make that one “specific post” sticky.

i tried that but in the slider it still showed the newest one before that

No, sticky won’t work for slider.

Use Show specific posts/pages instead. First ID will be of that “specific post” followed by the ID’s of most recent posts. But, you’ve to change those recent post ID’s whenever you publish a new post.
