Slider in second language is empty
-
Hi,
I’m creating a dual language site using WPML in English (default) and Spanish and wish to have the slider showing on both the English and Spanish home pages. The problem is that the Spanish page always shows an empty slider. The English page works great.
I have created the category “featured” and translated this to Spanish, so that I have “featured @es” listed in the Categories. I create my post in English then add the Spanish translation, selecting “featured” from the category. However no post is displayed in the slider.
Any suggestions most appreciate. Thanks!

Hi Helen,
Have you tried assigning “featured @es” category to those Spanish translations?
Thanks for your quick reply.
Looking at Posts > Categories, the category name in Spanish is “featured”. The individual posts have the “featured” category checked (there is no option for “featured @es”), but when I view the Posts summary page, the Spanish posts have a category of “featured @es”.
In the Slider Options, I have selected “featured” in the category field. I have also tried changing it to only show the Spanish posts using their ID, but I still get nothing.
The site is here if you want to see what is happening http://nev.hangmyhat.com.
Thanks

You’re using a much older version of WPML (1.8.3). I’ve tested this on a client’s website running WPML 2.0.4.1, and it works just fine. You can see it here: http://www.mauriziotucci.com/
I think the free version goes up to 2.0.4.1, though I’m not sure if you can get it from wordpress.org anymore.

Hi helenj,
Would you mind giving me WP Admin access and FTP access to your server? It’ll be much easier to investigate the problem, and debug if necessary.
You can send me the details using the contact form on my site: http://www.khairul-syahir.com/contact-me
I tried deleting the Spanish translation of the “featured” category and creating it again, and also re-creating the Spanish translations of the posts and the slider on the Spanish home page now seems to be working as expected.
The site is now live at http://tywo.es.
Thanks very much for your help.
