Slider image & graphene update

    Hi, everybody.

I’m new to this so sorry if my question is stupid, but I looked for the information on the forum and couldn’t find it.

Is there any way to chose which part of the image appears in the slider? If you see my blog http://www.viajarnafranca.com you’ll see what I mean. For example, one image is too big so all I see in the slider is a bit of blue sky (the upper left corner of the picture I guess).

Also, I’ve made all the code changes on my child theme, except for the color changes, which were made through the graphene options on WordPress. If I update the theme, will I lose all the colors I chose?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Not sure about the slider question…

This is actually why you want to make all your changes in a child theme, because you won’t lose your changes this way. The same thing with the Graphene options. When you update, all your customisations will still be there. You’ve done the right thing.

Thanks Kenneth. I was afraid to update but I just did it and everything went fine! Your blog is great btw, I’ll make sure to read your tutorials, I definitely have a lot to learn!

I managed to correct the images in the slider, but I had to edit the photos and upload them again. Maybe this could be a new feature for a future update? 🙂

You can always make requests for features you’d like to see in future updates in the Feature Requests part of the forum.

    Hi Ana,

I took a look at your slider. Are you still having an issue with this? One thing I noticed is that your slider images should be pre-formatted (Photoshop) before using them as the slider images.

Keeping your current dimensions, you want your slider images to be 660px wide, and 240px tall. If you make them this size in a photo editor and then use them in the slider, they should fit perfectly.

NOTE: Your slider images are taking just a second too long to load. This is because of either:

    1. It is having to adjust the size manually before displaying the photo. Or,

    2. Because your images file sizes are too large. You may want to try reducing the filesize of the images by saving them with a slightly lower resolution.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any more slider questions.

    Hi, Josh

I formatted the images as you said (660×240) with a lower resolution and uploaded them all over again. It seems to be working fine now!

    Thanks!! 😀

    Awesome!

Good looking site too! Kind of makes me wish I spoke French 🙂
