Slider excerpt + view full post button help

    So I’m using the old style slider and regardless of the excerpt length, there is no “view full post” button. I’ve spent several days over the last few weeks trying to figure it out myself (even read through a good amount of threads here but missed the solution if there was one). So, how do I get that button to show? And how do I adjust the excerpt length/cut-off so nothing will overlap?

    View full post button is meant for showing only when you are not showing featured image on slider.

    I’m not showing a featured image though. I just have a custom background image – which is why it’s the same for all posts unless I use a featured image instead. I even removed the background image to see if it was the problem and it isn’t.
