Slider customerization help

    I spent few days trying to figure out on how to make the entire slider clickable. Syahir was very helpful, https://forum.graphene-theme.com/graphene-support/is-there-way-to-make-the-entire-slider-clickable

    But I am having trouble getting it right. I tried,

    .slider_post a:visited {
    display: block;
    position: absolute;
    left: 0;
    top: 0;
    width: 100%;
    height: 100%;
    z-index: 0;
    }

    in the child theme, but I am not sure what I am missing. Do I need to edit the functions.php file too?

    Thank you.

    One more thing, (sorry), I noticed that I can alter CSS using either the Options Custom CSS window or using the child theme styles.css. Is there any advantage on editing one way or the other?

    Code you add to the Custom CSS box gets loaded with every page. If you add that code to your child theme stylesheet, that stylesheet only gets loaded once. Thus, there is an advantage to adding code to a child theme stylesheet, because it reduces load on your server. The effect is small, but cumulative.

    Thank you Kenneth. I am a “casual student” when it comes to web development. I am still new to CSS and such…(Found some of your CSS articles to be very helpful!)

    Do you know since the slider is loaded earlier on, do I have to use functions.php to edit the behavior of it?

    I am still having trouble making the slider links. Any help would be appreciated.

    This is the new code I found on the net and modified to fit my needs. Now the slider works fine with link overlay, but the featured image is missing along with read more button. I try to change the z-index value to -1, 0 and 1, but it doesn’t seems to work (except when it is set to -1, the overlay link also won’t work).

    /*
    A LINK ON ENTIRE SLIDER
    */
    .slider_post a {
    position:relative;
    width:100%;
    height:100%;
    top:0;
    right:0;
    z-index:0;
    text-decoration:none;
    background-color:white; /*workaround to make clickable in IE */
    opacity: 0; /*workaround to make clickable in IE */
    filter: alpha(opacity=1); /*workaround to make clickable in IE */
    }

    Any ideas?

    Updated to, Not a Support Question, because I gave up on this at least for now. However, if anyone here found a work around, please let me know. Hopefully, this thread will help others here to get it started. 🙂 Thanks.
