Site Just Launched – Community Swimming Pool

    We just launched a site I did pro-bono for our neighborhood swimming pool. I would love constructive feedback, but be nice – I’m not a graphic designer and it is all volunteer time!

    I also want to say that I just love this theme – so flexible! I barely had to write a drop of code. This is the first time I have used a child theme and it was just so clean and easy. The support here is phenomenal and I will leave a donation.

    Any plans on creating a “responsive” version of the theme that will support mobile devices, I would definitely be willing to pay for that!

    Nicely done.

    Two things:

    In Appearance >> Background, I would set the background attachment to “fixed” rather than “scroll”.

    In “Videos” I would include a link to your YouTube channel.

    Love the color scheme. Very nicely done.

    Hey carmenj,

    A quick question for you. Upon clicking either the “Staff” or “About” tab for your website, a page shows up but does not display the subpages included. How did you manage to do that?

    @canyon,

    I used two methods to do this. One is that I used a different page template for those pages. Second is that I created the “child page menu” using custom menus and widgets. I used a plugin called Widget Logic to attach the menu widgets only to the pages I wanted them on.

    Carmen,

    But how are the subpages hidden away in their Parent page? I don’t quite understand how the method achieves such result.. Pardon my lack of understanding 🙁

    @canyon,

    The menus are not SOLELY based on the parent-child page relationship. I have created custom menus. Ex: Swim Team Staff is a child of the Swim Team page, but I have it in both the “Staff” Menu and in the “Swim Team” Menu. I don’t have any menus being automatically created via parent-child pages. They are all custom menus.

    Does that answer your question?

    Carmen,

    Appreciate the explanation! I will attempt to do the same when I get a chance. Thanks again for your time!

    (Okay, it’s not won any awards, but lots of folks have found it helpful.)

    Did you know how many time I’ve searched for “Create WordPress Custom Menus” in your site and linkback here and there? 🙂
