Sidebar Widgets not working after upgrade to 1.7
-
Hi all
Got an issue touched on https://forum.graphene-theme.com/graphene-support/widgets-not-working
Upgraded WP to 3.4 and Graphene to 1.7 last night, to my horrow widgets disappeared. They are showing in the backend (Sidebar Widget Area and Front Page Sidebar Widget Area) like they did before the upgrade but not on the site.
Using two-columns. So far, I have tried tweaking size of content area/sidebar, removing/returning widgets – no luck.

Help much, much appreciated, middle of the project for us and timing is tight.
Cheers

NEVER do two upgrades of anything at the same time: WP, themes, plugins, whatever. If something goes wrong (and it will from time to time), you’ll have no idea what the cause is.
So which of those suggestions in that post you referenced did you try? What was the effect? Are you using a child theme? If so, what files are included in it?

We’re all trying to beat a deadline, but I can’t figure out what you did wrong if I don’t know what you did in the first place.
Maybe you have a plugin conflict. Try disabling all your plugins and see if that makes a difference. It’s possible that one of your plugins doesn’t like the new version WordPress or Graphene.
Without knowing more, it’s hard to offer anything more concrete than that.
AdminTry looking at the page while logged in. There should be a message telling you which widget area is currently showing but has no widgets yet. If there’s nothing there, try resetting the theme’s options.
But, my guess is it’s the
footer.php
file in your child theme. Try removing it.(PS: all the suggestions above are from the post you linked to.)
Thank you Ken & Syahir. A friend (who created and customised the child theme in the first place) well versed in WP came to the rescue.
“Upgrade to WP 3.4 made a mess of the site” was her line, might get here to be more specific with it to maybe report a bug and/or offer more help/info to others.
Lesson learned, thank you for your help and suggestions all, appreciated.
