Remove page title from header nav but keep in sidebar
Hi, my header navigation is becoming a bit full, so I have some pages I would like to be excluded from the header, but still show up in the sidebar page widget.
I have the Exclude Pages plugin, but of course this excludes it from the header and sidebar page navigation.
I found a suggestion about adding this code (probably to Header.php)-
<?php wp_list_pages(‘title_li=&depth=2&sort_column=menu_order&exclude=67,68′); ?>
but couldn’t find where it might go?
Does anyone have a solution please?
I wouldn’t do any of that. You don’t need a plugin (which risks a plugin conflict), and you definitely don’t want to edit core files.
Instead, just use a custom menu. It’s easy (and fun!). Use one for the header navigation and another for the sidebar. Here’s a tutorial: http://blog.kjodle.net/2011/08/25/how-to-create-and-use-custom-menus-in-wordpress/
As far as I know, you can have as many custom menus as you want.
That tutorial was very easy to follow and really helped me out. I’ve never really taken the time to work with Menus before, but I understand a whole lot more now!
Thanks again Kenneth, I have now achieved the two different navigation menus in the header and sidebar that I wanted to – and been able to deactivate the Exclude Pages” plugin (not that it was causing a problem).
All the best,
