I have this weird issue on my website http://www.otaku-vysocina.cz/

Continue reading (or read more…whatever) button is not showing under some posts.

Any thoughts? Is there something wrong?

For a post shown on the home page to show the read more button, the post must have at least 56 words or more. Anything using 55 words or less will not show the read more link.

You can either add more words to the post (over 55); insert a manual “more” link with the content editor; or use a custom function to control the limit of words, and adjust it from 55 to something like 30.

Let us know if you need help with any of the above options.

The posts that are missing the “more” button contain way over 55 words. Could this also be caused by a plugin?

I think he means excerpt lengh.

Oh, that is odd! I’ve never noticed this thing before. And I am not completely sure, that I like it.

So now I have to decide if I want shorter excerpt with buttons or set limit in theme-loop.php to lets say 120 and get rid of the buttons entirely?

But thanks for advice! Now I at least know where to start.

    set limit in theme-loop.php

If you are editing theme files, this could be the cause of your problem.

I am not sure If I am supposed to start a new thread but…

Is it possible to use just <!--more--> tag instead of some automatic-word-counting-thingy?

And can I allow <br/> tag in excerpt filter somehow?

And can I allow <br/> tag in excerpt filter somehow?

Graphene options -> “Display” tab -> Excerpt display options -> Retain these HTML tags in excerpts

Is it possible to use just <!--more--> tag instead of some automatic-word-counting-thingy?

I’m not sure if you can disable it entirely or not. I would think you could, but I don’t know the “butterfly effect” of such an action.
