I am a complete and utter newbie when it comes to WordPress. I have previously been using Joomla and I am completely lost in WordPress.
All I would like to do is create a Static Front Page, with no Blogging Widget, I just want to create a normal page with normaly HTML and leave it there for years to come, just like the ‘Sample Page’ that comes Pre-Installed.
If I select Static Page from the Admin Panel but it still puts my Page in a Blog Format.
Any help much appreciated

You can select One Column, No sidebars layout for your static front page.
WP-Admin –> Pages –> Welcome… (page) –> Quick Edit and select One column in Template
Thank you for the quick reply.
I think it was the way I explained it. I would still like the Widget sidebar.
Currently I have the ability to post/blog on my homepage, with a current post in place by myself, which I do not want. I would like like to create a normal page and set that as my homepage, with no blogging or posting features, just a normal frontpage i.e Just like the ‘Sample Page’. Is there like a Blog Widget installed that I can remove?
In Joomla, you can just alter the standard page and put in what text you would like and decide what Widgets to use or not use. Sorry to keep referring to Joomla 🙂
I am new to WordPress, only 3 hours experience, so you will have to forgive me!

In this post, follow 1st, 2nd and 3rd steps
Thank you for the Guide.
I tried this previously and it gives me 3 instances on my Hompage on what I have wrote.
It displays the slider at the top with the text in it, in the page format I want and it displays it again at the botton left hand corner.
Please take a look. If you can assit, I would be grateful.

Select Move slider to bottom of page to move slider below the page.
I have no idea what you’re trying to get. Graphene is the most customizable theme. If you be specific on your requirements, we would be happy to assist you.
