Need help editing background
-
Hi I am new to the whole website community. I recently made a site and have been using the most current graphene theme. I will admit that I am a total noob. What I am trying to do is probably incredibly simple, but for the life of me I can not figure it out. Whoever is kind enough to answer/reply to this if you could please be kind enough to explain to me how to to resolve this problem in a step by step manner it would be greatly appreciated.
Q: With my site (www.ultimateteamhq.com) I am trying to remove the black background which appears on each the left and the right. I want my content to expand into that area to look something like (http://local-lawyer-directory.blogspot.com/2011/06/change-color-wordpress-theme-template.html)
Again if you could please let me know how to do this, (preferably step by step) it would be greatly appreciated. I have been using admin area to do everything (no custom coding) Thanks and if you need any additional info please let me know. Thank you

Go to Appearance >> Background
Click on “Remove Background Image”
In “Display Options” enter
#e3e3e3in the box labeled “Color”Click “Save Changes”. Mischief managed!
Good luck and welcome aboard.

Thank you Ken for your prompt response. That got rid of the color but what I am trying to do is expand the content on my page into that altered area.
Right now it is set up as
(background) content/widgets (background)
I would like my content to expand across the entire browser. When I change it to a two column set up it condenses it much too much, and if I were able to eliminate that background area, and make it useable, that would be ideal.

Actually, this has been discussed a lot in this forum. Do a search on “width” and you should find posts to help you. It is just a matter of swapping out width values in the stylesheet, plus one addition to your functions file to change the size of the header.
You should really do this in a child theme, as well. Except for simple changes to the custom CSS, any other changes really should be part of a child theme.

Thank you all very much for responding to this. Here is what I have.
http://www.ultimateteamhq.com/ (my site)
Example wise here is what my blog looks like

Here is what I want it to look like (with a column added on each side)

(with the background eliminated and the content expanded into the vacated area)
Again step by step instructions would be greatly appreciated
Thanks again
