Menu troubles, Lose Homepage, and Scrolling Bar

    Hello,

Here’s my site that I just set up: http://www.livingharmonicabundance.com

I love the scrolling feature. However, I am having much trouble with the menu. First, it is in alphabetical order. Second, it does not allow me to keep the, “Home” page if I create a new primary and secondary menu which is what I’m aiming for.

I have gone through the process to create a new primary and secondary menu but the problem is that when I do, the, “Home” page disappears and there is no way for someone to revisit the home page where the blog is located if they click on any other page b/c the, “Home” page is gone. In fact, if I add a new menu at all then the, “Home” page disappears. The only way I can see to keep a, “home page” is to set the home page to static…but this means that I lose the scrolling bar which I really like.

I would like to have the scrolling bar feature along with the primary and secondary menus with a Home page which I would rename to, “Blog.” Is there any way to do this, please? Thank you so much!

Use a custom menu and then use a custom link for the home page.

I can create a custom menu. However, I do not know how to create a custom link for the home page. Just to confirm, I created custom menus before and it took away my home page and required that I choose the front page as, “static” which took away the slider that I wanted. Will your solution in creating a custom link solve this problem so that I can have flexibility in my menu and have the slider feature? Thank you.

    Yes.

    See this tutorial:

    http://blog.kjodle.net/2011/08/25/how-to-create-and-use-custom-menus-in-wordpress/

It’s for WP 3.5, but the functionality hasn’t changed, only the appearance.

Just did it and it worked perfectly! WHY I waited a week to sit down and try to figure this out. How simple this was! Thanks a bunch!!!

You’re welcome. Custom menus are one of the most powerful features of WordPress, afaic.

Marking thread as resolved. You can do this yourself as well.
