    I just discovered Graphene and I’m really enjoying the immense flexibility of the system, but there is one thing that has been bothering me, and I would like to change before my theme goes live.

    If you check out the test server here: http://test.ultima-java.com/wordpress/

    You’ll see that the feature images in the excerpts are showing at thumbnail size (150px by 150px). Is there any way to display these images at their mid size, rather than thumbnail? At the moment the excerpts are looking rather bare and increasing the size of the image will bunch up the text somewhat and maybe make it look a little fuller. That that fails, then I may attempt to place the images at full size and simply adjust the size of the image to suit accordingly.

    Is there any way to do this without messing around in the template files?

    Actually, I had another consideration, is there any way to increase the number of word/letters in the excerpts? I haven’t been able to find a way, but that in conjunction with being able to use medium size images in the front page excerpts would be perfect!

    Answer to second query:

    Yes. Create a child theme and add this to the child theme’s functions.php file:

    function custom_excerpt_length( $length ) {
    return 100;
    }
    add_filter( 'excerpt_length', 'custom_excerpt_length', 999 );

    The default excerpt length is 55 words; the above code changes it to 100.

    That’s the only way huh? Ok….

    I’m not big on the coding, I just kinda make things look pretty with CSS. If I could do that I would have made my own theme from scratch 😛
