    I am not using the alternate front page widget now but if I do is there a way to put icons next to my items in that front page alternate widget. I like icons instead have having a line divide each listing

    You can, but you will need to use some custom CSS and target the widget by its unique ID. It’s not difficult, but it’s easier to walk you through it if you’ve got it up and running.
