When a category archive is brought up, the images are huge, not thumbnails. But if a tag archive is brought up, thumbnails from the posts appear. Any suggestion on how to get thumbnails on the category archives.

If the problem is caused by the image sizes in the posts, is there a way to have the archives display thumbnails and not full sized images?

http://randombitsoffascination.com/tag/christmas-traditions/ (tag archive)

Try updating to the latest version (2.1.2). If you’re still having this issue after that, you might need to rebuild the image thumbnails using the AJAX Thumbnail Rebuild plugin.
