how to change slider to feature box (or opt-in)

    I really like the theme! But I would like to change the place of the slider to a static box where I can plug in a feature box, or opt-in box. Can I do that?

    Not really. The slider is meant to display post excerpts. However, you can turn it off and use other features.

    BTW, if you are not going to use categories (and you should), you might want to consider adding this to your custom CSS:

    .meta_categories {display: none;}
