Try as I may, I simply can’t figure out how to get the front page of NEO looking right. I’ve copied over the Graphene theme presets, but this hasn’t displayed the Homepage Panes, I’ve selected “Show Selected Categories” (and the relevant categories) in Front Page options and yet my front page remains, stubbornly, blank aside from the home page slider.
Any help would be great.

Graphene Neo doesn’t have a homepage panes option.February 27, 2014 at 1:16 am #42217
Thanks ever so much Kenneth for getting back to me. I didn’t realise that.
I have selected “Show Selected Categories” (and the relevant categories) in Front Page options of the Graphene Neo Options. Would this not allow most recent posts within those categories to be displayed on the front page of the mobile theme?

Only if you are not using a static home page. A static home page, by WordPress default, doesn’t show posts. Homepage panes is Graphene’s way of getting around that limitation. It’s just not a feature in Graphene Neo, at least not yet.
As a workaround, you could disable homepage panes, and use a plugin like Advanced Post List:

I’ve managed to figure out Advanced Post List after two days of banging my head on the computer desk….. 🙂
I’ve got the home page to a point where I’m ok with it. I’ll have a bit more of a play around when my head’s not quite so broken. I’m just wondering, though, if you could help me out with a couple of things that appear to be well above my pay grade?
I’ve followed your tutorial on Kalin’s but the manner in which you created borders around individual excerpts has truly eluded me. I also can’t figure out how to get rid of that stupid black line underneath each excerpt.
I guess this might be outside of the realm of assistance provided in the Graphene theme forum, but I thought I might ask to see if yourself (or anyone else) may be willing to assist.

That’s some funky code there.
The black line is caused by the

That made me laugh, Kenneth. And I’ll have you know that’s two days of funky right there!! Maybe when I’m done with my juices and smoothies I can start a new site http://www.workable_yet_funky_html or something like that. 🙂
Anyhow, thanks for all your help on this thread and assisting me get to a point where I have a workable front page. And I forgot to thank you earlier for the Kalin’s tutorial on your site. That was incredibly helpful in development of the aforementioned funkiness.
