Help with random text?

  • dbphoto1981

    Hi, have had this problem for ages and not found an answer.

    On my index pages for example this one: you will see the first link/page info has part of the text from the page it links to showing, how do I stop this showing please? is there a code or maximum number it shows from the page as it is different on each page?

    Hi, can anyone offer any help with this, really stuck and cant find any solutions in the search?

    I’m on mobile now so I don’t have abbility to see code, but, can you color that text in the color of background? Something like:

    #post-ID p {

    ID is the id of post…

    Not ideal solution I know. I will have a look at it later on desktop PC.

    Thanks, unfortunatly this wont work as then it wont show when you go to the page, it is a very strange issue this and have been trying to sort it for ages, so any help would be much appreciated 🙂

    Ok. This is little funny because pages don’t use excerpt by default. In loop-children.php the excerpt is called but we don’t have the control of it like in posts. So, If I was you I will do next:

    Add this code in functions.php (in child – theme off course):

    // add excerpts to pages
    function add_page_excerpt_meta_box() {
    add_meta_box( 'postexcerpt', __('Excerpt'), 'post_excerpt_meta_box', 'page', 'normal', 'core' );
    add_action( 'admin_menu', 'add_page_excerpt_meta_box' );

    This will add excerpt meta box in page edit. If you don’t see it try to enable it in Screen Options.

    Now, the tricky part is that it will show first few lines again if the excerpt meta box is empty. Now it depends, if you want custom page excerpts this is Ok. If you want to remove it copy/paste loop-children.php in child-theme and remove the_excerpt call.
