Header Text not showing up
I recently upgraded to the latest version and the text on my header disappeared. It is still in the “custom header” (page=custom-header) edit and it appears correctly in the “preview” but when I go to the site it is no longer there.
I’d appreciate any tips on how to correct this.Mod
Text reads “Michael Forbes Wilcox
Personal observations of an activist Aspergerian”
I put this out there many months ago and have never changed it. I recently upgraded to the latest versions of both WordPress and Graphene, but I made no other changes.
Funny, but when I loaded the blog just now to copy the text, that text flashed up on the screen momentarily and then was covered by the graphic. Could this be a problem with Chrome? Why would it be different from what it’s always been if I didn’t make any changes?
I just noticed a couple of other odd things. On the slider, if a post has a title of 3 lines (instead of the usual 1 or 2), the “Share This” buttons are hidden beneath the lower border of the box.
And, I suspect the Header Text is hidden beneath the slider, too, because when I click on one of the posts there, the tops of the letters of my name are just barely peeking over from behind the box that contains the post, and inch or so below where the Home and About tabs are, and just below the << and >> links are to the previous and next post. So, it seems that the text may indeed be there, but it is not within the Header box.Mod
Looks fine to me in both Firefox and Chrome.Quote:On the slider, if a post has a title of 3 lines (instead of the usual 1 or 2), the “Share This” buttons are hidden beneath the lower border of the box.
You probably don’t want them there, anyway. See this:Quote:I suspect the Header Text is hidden beneath the slider, too, because when I click on one of the posts there, the tops of the letters of my name are just barely peeking over from behind the box that contains the post,
Again, your site looks fine to me in both Firefox and Chrome. I cannot reproduce this issue. Please post a screen shot of this.
Okay, will supply screen shots. I’m afraid your comment and link about the “Share This” plugin are a bit beyond my technical expertise. A friend of mine set this up for me and that’s what he recommended. Is there another similar plugin you would recommend? It seems to work just fine, at least for Linkedin and Twitter — it doesn’t do so for FB. But I probably usually activate it from the post page, not the slider.
It’s odd that you cannot recreate the problem. It shows up for me on both my laptop and my desktop, whether I’m logged in to WordPress or not. So I decided to see how it looks on my Droid and voila! no problem. Odd. I wonder if it has anything to do with my being logged into Chrome via my Google account and have (I think) chosen to have the two synced. Not sure why that would cause the problem, but whatever does maybe would show up on both the same way. I feel better knowing it’s only me, but I’d still like to fix it so I can see how my blog looks to others!
Screen shots of:
1) my name peeking out from behind the post box
2) long post name hiding part of Share This
3) shorter post name not doing so
4) edit page for Header showing that text is there
an earlier one showing the page as it looked before I did the update
Thanks for your attention to this.Admin
From your screenshots, it appears that Chrome is still using the old stylesheet for your site. Clear your browser’s cache and it should work fine.
As for the social sharing buttons in the slider, if you’re gonna put them there, I’d suggest using the smaller pill-sized buttons instead of those big bubbles.
