Header Image won't upload

    Hey there

I’ve just installed WP 3.2 today and I’m trying to install a custom header image on my page: http://www.daniellehanifin.com – for some reason the image won’t show up even though the radio buttons appear for banners that you’ve already uploaded.

I’ve tried uploading .jpg and .png files that are exactly the same size as stated in the display options menu as well as have tried something a pixel or two smaller.

Any help with how I can fix this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much for your time!

Your header has this URL as background: http://www.daniellehanifin.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/cropped-banner3.jpg , but when I tried to access that URL, I got a 404 Not Found error.

This means that either the image is not actually there, or something is wrong with your permalink settings. Try using FTP to check if the image is actually there.

You’re right, it wasn’t there. I’ve been using the header image uploader so I’m not really understanding why it’s not showing up… is there any way I can put the image in through a URL instead of uploading it from my desktop?

Thank you again so much for your help!

after playing around a little bit the uploading, I’ve just noticed, isn’t working for a background image either.

Your background image, http://www.daniellehanifin.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/wallpaper-cf2-1024×768.png is also giving a 404 message.

How big are these files? Some web hosts limit the size of uploads, although I find it hard to imagine that these files even approach that limit. (For me, it’s 7MB.)

Have you tried using FTP to see if the image file is there?

the banner is 78kb – I’m not really quite sure about the background, but it’s probably near the same size.

I checked in FTP to see if it was hiding somewhere and the files are no where to be found – even in other folders.

For some strange reason it just seems to be that maybe WP isn’t uploading the files correctly? Or maybe there’s a small glitch with Graphene and WP 3.2? I did update it yesterday…

Yeah, I didn’t think it was the file size.

3.2? I tried uploading new header and banner images with no problems.

I am now seeing your header image (you looking into a field of lavender). Your background is showing up as light blue. Have you refreshed the page? Try emptying your cache and then reloading the page.

I think that banner you’re seeing is on my wayfarerdanielle.com travel blog… I’m trying to upload this ugly image https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/S3p9Uudpy3_Nt7KeXJJUCvG5crsGDffi9_4IGCVYyNo?feat=directlink to my daniellehanifin.com website.

Followed your advice for clearing the cache (and a couple of other things just for “why not?”) and the image is still not uploading properly.

    Haha… the internet hates me!

Thank you so much for your help – sorry this is just as frustrating for you as it is for me. 🙂

Oh, yup, I was on the wrong page. So you have that image saved on your hard drive?

Yes, the image is on my hard drive as well as on Picasa. I have no clue what I did haha
