Graphene PageSpeed – Terrible with Mobile Devices!

I have been using the Graphene theme for years for one of my websites. Lately, it has the page speed of an old lady. For desktop checks in Google PageSpeed, it records mostly in the 90s for my pages and posts (about 200 on the site). But for mobile devices, I get numbers in the 40s to 60s, at best.

Is there anything I can do to improve those numbers for phones and tablets visiting my site? That is about 2/3 of my traffic and the new Google Core Update is killing my page one rankings!

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thank you!!

There’s not a single solution for this, unfortunately. Mobile score in the 40s to 60s is quite typical, even on the high side if the website is unoptimized. Mobile devices have much less processing power and (typically) slower connection and higher latency.

In order to improve the scores you’ll have to implement the recommendations outlined on Pagespeed Insights, e.g. reducing scripts, optimizing and lazy-loading images, etc. Most of it is site-specific, so the solutions have to be tailored to the website.
