FJ Stacks Slider Image Cropped

    Hello,

I’ve got the following problem on the FrontPage of my site lrvleest.be:

Using the FJ Stacks slider the featured image (have a look at the horse jumping) is showing correctly on small monitor, windows phone lumia 830 and on Nexus 7 tab, but on a large 20inch screen the picture gets cropped, cutting of the head of the horse rider.

The featured image in the post that is put into the slider has been cropped using Post Thumbnail Editor plugin, that shows sizes of 1920 x 685 for ‘franz-slider’ and 1140 x 685 for ‘franz-slider-contained’. I did not enter these sizes and they cannot be changed (as far as I know) so I assume they are retreived by the Thumbnail Editor plugin out of FJ Stacks Slider.

Can this be fixed? What would be the ideal image size in px?

Another suggestion: in order to avoid reading to tons of support forum posts that are only relevant for Graphene theme, please split up Graphene and FJ forum

For the rest a happy user, great value for money!

The image height should follow the slider height, which is set to 500 pixels by default. In the next theme update, we’ll change the slider image height to 500px instead of the current 685px.

For the support forum posts, you can actually do an advanced search and limit the results to the Franz Josef categories only.

thx for the reply, but I’m still trying to figure out how to get a decent image on the slider, or in other words what is the best image size

Your answers suggests that setting the slider height to 685px would solve the issue, but it doesn’t. Is 500px the maximum slider height?

    This is what I did;

+ set slider height to 500px

+ scale my image to 1920 wide

+ crop the image, I tested the following sizes:

    1920 x 500

    1920 x 400

    1920 * 300

Only the latter one (300 high) maintains its appearance on the wide 20inch screen.

I cannot understand the logic behind this, one would expect that the 1920 x 500 fits in nicely, what am I doing wrong?

Please provide the link to your website so that we can take a look further.

    The site is:

    lrvleest.be

Even after the theme update and with slider set to 500 px, the post thumbnail with 1920 x 500 in post thumbnail editor, is being cut-off on a wide screen.

The example is the girl jumping on the horse on the FrontPage slider, in post thumbnail editor you can see her head.

The slider on your side is set to be 350px high instead of 500px. Make sure you have set the slider height to 500px to avoid the image being cut-off.

    Great, this works!

I’m using the FJ Stacks slider, and not the FrontPage theme one.

The FT Stacks slider was set to 500 px (what was also reflected in the post thumbnail editor), but the (disabled) Theme Slider was set to 350 px.

Changing this as well to 500 px solved the issue.

Apparently the theme slider settings overrule the stack slider settings (I assume only when on the FrontPage), even if the theme slider is disabled.

Maybe some small room for improvement as one would not expect this behaviour, anyhow many thanks for the help!

Definitely, thanks for the suggestion. We’ll include this improvement in the next Stacks update.
